WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Respiratory tract infections such as pneumonia
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Bone and joint infections
- Meningitis

- Sepsis (blood infection)
- Gonorrhoea and certain other sexually transmitted infections
- Prevention of infection before certain surgeries
HOW IT WORKS
- It belongs to the cephalosporin class of antibiotics
- It works by stopping bacteria from building their protective outer cell wall
- Without a proper cell wall, the bacteria cannot survive and die off
- It is effective against many gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It does not treat viral infections such as common cold or flu
- It does not work on fungal infections
- It is not effective against tuberculosis
- It should not be used for minor infections that can be treated with oral antibiotics

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
