WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Infections of the respiratory tract such as bronchitis, sinusitis and pneumonia
• Ear, nose and throat infections
• Urinary tract infections
• Skin and soft tissue infections
• Gonorrhoea and certain other bacterial infections
• Prevention of infection in some surgical situations, as advised by your doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• It belongs to a class of antibiotics called cephalosporins
• It stops bacteria from building their protective outer wall
• Without this wall the bacteria cannot survive and the infection clears up

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It does not work against viral infections such as common cold or flu
• It is not effective for fungal infections
• It should not be used for infections that are not confirmed or suspected to be bacterial
• It is not a painkiller and does not treat fever on its own

How to Use Cefuroxime Axetil 1500mg

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor
• It is usually taken with or shortly after food, which helps absorption and reduces stomach upset
• Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush or chew it
• Complete the full course even if you feel better, unless your doctor tells you to stop
• Take doses at evenly spaced intervals as advised

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Unusual bleeding or bruising
• Seizures or confusion

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
