Clomiphene is mainly used to treat female infertility caused by irregular or absent ovulation.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• To induce ovulation in women who do not ovulate regularly
• To help improve chances of pregnancy in certain fertility treatments
• Sometimes used as part of assisted reproduction protocols under specialist care

HOW IT WORKS

• It blocks estrogen receptors in the brain, tricking the body into thinking estrogen levels are low
• This causes the brain to release more hormones (FSH and LH) that stimulate the ovaries
• As a result, one or more eggs may mature and be released

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not used for male infertility routinely without doctor's specific advice
• It is not a treatment for general hormonal imbalance unrelated to ovulation
• It should not be used just to increase chances of pregnancy without a confirmed diagnosis of ovulation problems
• It is not a contraceptive or a treatment for menstrual pain

How to Use Clomiphene (25mg)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily for five days starting early in your menstrual cycle
• Swallow the tablet with water, with or without food
• Take it at the same time each day to maintain a routine
• Do not increase the dose or duration on your own
• Your doctor may monitor ovulation with ultrasound or blood tests during treatment

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as scheduled
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
• Inform your doctor if you miss more than one dose during a treatment cycle

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
• Keep in the original packaging until ready to use

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Hot flashes
• Bloating or mild stomach discomfort

• Ovarian enlargement with mild pelvic discomfort

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe pelvic or abdominal pain and swelling (possible ovarian hyperstimulation)
• Sudden vision changes or loss of vision
• Signs of blood clot such as leg swelling, chest pain, or breathlessness
• Severe allergic reaction with rash, swelling of face or throat, or difficulty breathing
• Multiple pregnancy symptoms noticed early (needs monitoring)

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
