WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Ringworm (skin, groin, feet) infections
• Vaginal yeast infections (candidiasis)
• Oral thrush (fungal infection of the mouth)
• Fungal skin rashes and itching caused by yeast or dermatophytes

HOW IT WORKS

• It damages the outer membrane of the fungal cell
• This stops the fungus from growing and multiplying
• Over time the infection clears as the fungus is eliminated

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It does not treat bacterial infections
• It does not treat viral infections such as cold sores or warts
• It is not effective against internal or systemic fungal infections
• It is not a treatment for allergic skin conditions like eczema

How to Use Clotrimazole

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Use exactly as prescribed by your doctor in terms of frequency and duration
• Clean and dry the affected area before applying cream or ointment
• Apply a thin layer and gently rub it in, unless using a vaginal tablet or lozenge
• For vaginal tablets, insert as directed, usually at night
• For oral lozenges, allow them to dissolve slowly in the mouth; do not chew or swallow whole
• Continue treatment for the full duration even if symptoms improve early
• Wash your hands before and after application

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Apply or use it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not double up to make up for a missed application

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
• Keep vaginal applicators and lozenges in their original packaging until use

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Mild burning or stinging at the application site
• Itching or redness of the skin
• Irritation in the vaginal area when using vaginal forms

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Skin peeling or dryness
• Mild swelling of the treated area
• Increased vaginal discharge with vaginal tablets

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe skin rash, blistering, or swelling
• Difficulty breathing or swelling of the face, lips, or throat
• Severe itching or hives spreading beyond the application area
• Signs of a serious allergic reaction (anaphylaxis)
