Crotamiton is mainly used for skin conditions caused by scabies infestation and for relief from itching.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treatment of scabies (a skin infestation caused by mites)
• Relief from itching caused by scabies or other minor skin conditions
• Sometimes used for itching due to other non-infectious skin conditions as advised by doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• It kills the scabies mite (Sarcoptes scabiei) that burrows into the skin
• It has a soothing, anti-itch (antipruritic) action on the skin
• Reduces the urge to scratch, allowing skin to heal

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for fungal skin infections
• Not used for bacterial skin infections
• Not a treatment for allergic skin rashes unrelated to scabies
• Not to be used on eyes, mouth, or open wounds
• Not meant for oral use

How to Use Crotamiton (10% W/V)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• For external use on the skin only, not to be swallowed
• Apply a thin layer to the affected area as directed by your doctor
• Wash hands thoroughly after applying, unless hands are being treated
• Avoid contact with eyes, nose, mouth, and mucous membranes
• Follow the exact duration and frequency advised by your doctor, as scabies treatment often needs repeated applications over a few days
• Wash previously applied medicine off before applying a new application if instructed

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Apply as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next application, skip the missed one and continue as prescribed
• Do not apply extra to make up for a missed application

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep the container tightly closed
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Mild burning or stinging on application
• Redness of the skin
• Dryness or irritation at the site of application

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Rash or itching that worsens after use
• Skin peeling
• Sensation of warmth on applied area

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe skin rash, swelling, or blistering
• Signs of an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, swelling of face or lips
• Severe irritation or oozing at the application site
• Worsening of itching despite treatment

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to crotamiton or any ingredient in the product
