Desonide 0.05% is mainly used to treat inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis on sensitive areas of the body.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Relieving redness, itching and swelling caused by eczema or dermatitis
• Managing mild to moderate psoriasis patches
• Treating allergic skin reactions and rashes
• Use on sensitive skin areas like face, neck, and skin folds when advised by a doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• It is a mild corticosteroid that reduces inflammation by calming the immune response in the skin
• It decreases swelling, redness and itching by narrowing blood vessels in the skin
• Its low potency makes it suitable for delicate skin areas and for use in children

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for bacterial, fungal or viral skin infections unless combined with other specific treatment
• Not a treatment for acne or rosacea
• Not meant for long-term daily use without medical supervision

How to Use Desonide 0.05%

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Apply a thin layer of the cream or ointment to the affected skin area as prescribed by your doctor
• Wash your hands before and after application unless the hands are the treated area
• Do not cover the area with a bandage unless your doctor tells you to
• Do not use more often or for longer than prescribed
• Avoid applying to broken skin, wounds or infected areas unless directed
• Avoid contact with eyes, mouth and nose

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Apply it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next application, skip the missed one and continue as usual
• Do not apply extra medicine to make up for a missed dose

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct heat and sunlight
• Keep the tube tightly closed when not in use
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Mild burning or stinging at the application site
• Itching or dryness of skin
• Redness at the applied area

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Thinning of skin with prolonged use
• Small visible blood vessels on skin (telangiectasia)
• Changes in skin colour at the application site
• Increased hair growth on treated skin

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Signs of skin infection such as pus, increased pain or swelling
• Severe allergic reaction with rash, swelling of face or difficulty breathing
• Stretch marks or thinning skin that does not improve
• Signs of steroid absorption into the body such as unusual weight gain, weakness or high blood sugar with long-term use
