Dexlansoprazole 30mg is mainly used to treat conditions caused by excess stomach acid.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
• Heartburn and acid regurgitation
• Healing of erosive esophagitis
• Maintaining healing of esophagitis and preventing symptoms from returning

HOW IT WORKS

• Blocks the proton pump in stomach cells that produces acid
• Reduces the overall amount of acid in the stomach
• Helps relieve symptoms and allows the esophagus lining to heal
• Provides longer duration of acid control due to its dual delayed-release formulation

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Immediate relief of sudden severe heartburn (it is not a fast-acting antacid)
• Treating stomach infections unrelated to acid, such as viral gastroenteritis
• General pain relief unrelated to acid reflux
• Use in children without doctor's specific advice

How to Use Dexlansoprazole 30mg

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
• Can be taken with or without food
• Swallow the capsule whole; do not crush or chew it
• If swallowing is difficult, ask your doctor about opening the capsule and sprinkling on soft food
• Take at the same time each day for best results

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose

• Yellowing of skin or eyes, or severe stomach pain (possible liver problem)
• Bone fracture from a minor fall (with long-term use)

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
