Diclofenac 1.16% gel is used to treat localized pain and inflammation of muscles and joints.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Relief of pain and swelling from osteoarthritis in small joints like hands and knees
• Muscle sprains, strains, and sports injuries
• Back pain and joint stiffness
• Tendon and ligament pain

HOW IT WORKS

• Diclofenac blocks certain chemicals (prostaglandins) in the body that cause pain and inflammation
• When applied on the skin, it works locally at the site of pain without significantly affecting the whole body
• It helps reduce swelling, redness, and stiffness in the applied area

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not meant for internal pain like stomach ache or headache
• Not a treatment for infections or fever
• Not to be used on open wounds, cuts, or broken skin
• Not a substitute for treating the underlying cause of chronic joint disease

How to Use Diclofenac 1.16 %

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Apply only on clean, dry, and unbroken skin over the painful area
• Use the amount advised by your doctor, usually a thin layer
• Gently massage until absorbed; wash hands after application unless hands are being treated
• Do not cover the area with an airtight bandage unless advised
• Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, nose, and open wounds
• Do not use on more than one area at the same time without doctor's advice

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Apply as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next application, skip the missed one
• Do not apply extra gel to make up for a missed dose

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep the tube tightly closed after use
• Keep out of reach of children and pets
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Mild itching or redness at the site of application
• Dryness or peeling of skin
• A burning or tingling sensation after application

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Rash or skin irritation spreading beyond application site
• Increased sensitivity to sunlight
• Mild swelling of applied area

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe skin blistering, peeling, or ulceration
• Signs of allergic reaction such as swelling of face, lips, or throat, and difficulty breathing
• Severe itching with widespread rash or hives
• Wheezing or sudden shortness of breath, especially in people with asthma
