Dimethyl Fumarate 240mg — Uses and Benefits
This medicine is mainly used to treat relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS).
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- To reduce the number of relapses (flare-ups) in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis
- To slow down worsening of physical disability caused by MS
- Used as a long-term treatment plan under neurologist supervision
HOW IT WORKS
- It works on the immune system to reduce inflammation and damage to nerve coverings (myelin)
- It is believed to have antioxidant effects that help protect nerve cells
- It helps reduce the frequency and severity of MS attacks over time
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for treating acute MS relapses already in progress
- Not a cure for multiple sclerosis
- Not used for other types of paralysis or nerve damage unrelated to MS

How to Use Dimethyl Fumarate 240mg
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually twice daily
- Swallow the capsule whole with water; do not crush, chew or open it
- Take with food to reduce stomach upset and flushing
- Do not stop or change the dose without consulting your doctor, even if you feel well
IF YOU MISS A DOSE

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Flushing or redness of face and body
- Stomach pain, nausea or diarrhoea
- Indigestion

- Itching or skin rash
- Feeling unusually tired
- Reduced white blood cell count seen on blood tests
SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY
- Signs of severe allergic reaction such as swelling of face, lips or throat, difficulty breathing
- Severe or persistent stomach pain, vomiting
- Signs of infection such as high fever, chills, unusual weakness
- Any new or worsening neurological symptoms (confusion, weakness, vision changes) which could indicate a rare brain infection
- Yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine (signs of liver problems)
