Divalprorex is mainly used to treat epilepsy (seizures), bipolar disorder (mania), and to prevent migraine headaches.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Controlling different types of seizures/epilepsy
• Treating manic episodes in bipolar disorder
• Preventing recurrent migraine attacks
• Sometimes used for mood stabilisation in other psychiatric conditions as advised by a doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• Increases the level of a calming brain chemical called GABA
• Reduces abnormal, excessive electrical activity in brain cells
• Helps stabilise mood swings by regulating brain signalling

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for treating acute migraine attacks (it only helps prevent them)
• Not a painkiller for headache
• Not used for anxiety or depression alone
• Not recommended in pregnant women unless absolutely necessary, due to birth defect risk

How to Use Divalprorex

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with food to reduce stomach upset
• Swallow tablets whole; do not crush or chew extended-release forms
• Shake syrup formulation well before use
• Do not stop suddenly without consulting your doctor, as this can trigger seizures or mood relapse
• Take at the same time(s) each day for consistent effect

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
• Do not take double dose to make up for a missed one
• If you miss doses frequently, inform your doctor

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
• Keep in original container/blister pack until use

• Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice), signs of liver problems
• Severe abdominal pain (may indicate pancreatitis)
• Unusual bleeding or bruising
• Severe skin rash or blistering
• Confusion, extreme drowsiness, or difficulty waking up
• Thoughts of self-harm or suicide

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
