Dorzolamide eye drops are prescribed mainly to treat raised pressure inside the eye, a condition seen in glaucoma and ocular hypertension.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Lowering high pressure inside the eye in open-angle glaucoma
• Managing ocular hypertension
• Used alone or along with other eye pressure-lowering drops as advised by your doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• It blocks an enzyme called carbonic anhydrase in the eye
• This reduces the amount of fluid produced inside the eye
• Lower fluid production helps reduce eye pressure and protects the optic nerve

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for eye infections
• Not used for allergic conjunctivitis or red eye due to irritation
• Not a treatment for dry eyes
• Not meant for sudden vision loss or eye injury

How to Use Dorzolamide 2%w/v

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Use only in the eye, as prescribed by your doctor
• Wash your hands before using the drop
• Tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid, and place the drop inside
• Avoid touching the dropper tip to your eye or any surface
• If using other eye drops, wait at least 10 minutes between them
• Do not wear soft contact lenses while using this medicine unless your doctor allows

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
• Do not apply a double dose to make up

STORAGE

• Store as directed on the pack, usually at room temperature away from heat and light
• Keep the bottle tightly closed
• Keep out of reach of children
• Discard the bottle after the period mentioned on the label once opened

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Burning or stinging in the eye after applying
• Blurred vision for a short time
• Bitter or unusual taste in the mouth
• Itching or redness of the eye

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Watering of eyes
• Dryness or irritation of the eye
• Headache
• Nausea

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe eye pain, swelling, or redness
• Signs of allergic reaction such as rash, itching, or swelling of face, lips, tongue
• Sudden vision changes or loss of vision
• Difficulty breathing or severe skin reaction
