WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treating symptoms of enlarged prostate such as weak urine flow, frequent urination, and incomplete bladder emptying
• Reducing the risk of acute urinary retention in men with enlarged prostate
• Reducing the need for prostate-related surgery in some patients

HOW IT WORKS

• Blocks the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, which converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT)
• Lower DHT levels help shrink the prostate gland over time
• Improvement in urinary symptoms usually takes several months of regular use

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not used for prostate cancer treatment
• It is not used in women or children
• It does not provide immediate relief of urinary symptoms and is not a substitute for emergency treatment of urinary retention

How to Use Dutasteride 0.5mg

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily
• Swallow the capsule whole with water; do not chew, crush, or open it as the contents can irritate the mouth and throat
• Can be taken with or without food
• Continue taking it regularly, even if you do not notice immediate improvement, as it may take several months to show full effect

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your normal schedule
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
