WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Prevention of blood clots after surgery, especially hip or knee replacement, or in patients who are immobile
• Treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
• Treatment of pulmonary embolism (clot in the lungs)
• Prevention of clotting during certain heart conditions like unstable angina or heart attack
• Preventing clot formation in patients undergoing dialysis

HOW IT WORKS

• Enoxaparin blocks certain clotting factors in the blood, mainly Factor Xa
• This reduces the blood's ability to form new clots
• It also helps prevent existing clots from growing larger

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not a painkiller and does not treat pain directly

HOW TO TAKE IT

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Have a known allergy to enoxaparin, heparin or pork products (as it is derived from pork)
