WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
• Heartburn and acid reflux
• Stomach and duodenal ulcers
• Prevention of ulcers caused by long-term use of painkillers (NSAIDs)
• As part of combination therapy to treat H. pylori infection
• Conditions where the stomach makes too much acid (like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome)

HOW IT WORKS

• Blocks the acid pumps in the stomach lining
• Reduces the amount of acid produced

• Allows healing of the food pipe and stomach lining damaged by acid

How to Use Esomeprazole 40mg

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor
• Usually taken once daily, at least one hour before a meal
• Swallow the tablet or capsule whole with water; do not chew or crush unless your doctor says it is safe
• Take it at the same time every day for best results
• Continue for the full duration advised by your doctor, even if you feel better

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

• Unusual tiredness, muscle spasms, or irregular heartbeat (low magnesium)
• Yellowing of skin or eyes
• Severe stomach pain

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
