WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treatment of active pulmonary (lung) tuberculosis
• Treatment of TB affecting other organs, as part of combination therapy
• Used together with other anti-TB medicines like isoniazid, rifampicin and pyrazinamide

HOW IT WORKS

• Stops the TB bacteria from building their cell wall properly
• This prevents the bacteria from multiplying and spreading further in the body
• Helps other TB medicines work better by reducing bacterial resistance

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used to treat viral infections like cold or flu
• Not used alone to treat TB — always given with other anti-TB drugs
• Not used for other bacterial infections like UTI or throat infection
• Not a painkiller or fever medicine

How to Use Ethambutol 400mg

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
• Can be taken with or without food, but taking it the same way each day helps
• Swallow the tablet with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Continue taking it for the full duration prescribed, even if you feel better
• Do not stop the medicine on your own as it may lead to drug-resistant TB
• Take it along with the other TB medicines prescribed, at the times advised

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
• Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one
• Try to take your doses at the same time every day to avoid missing them

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use beyond the expiry date printed on the pack

• Severe skin rash or peeling
• Unusual bleeding or bruising
