Etoricoxib 90mg — Uses and Benefits
Etoricoxib 90mg is mainly used to treat pain and inflammation caused by joint and muscle conditions.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Osteoarthritis pain and stiffness
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Ankylosing spondylitis
- Acute gouty arthritis
- Pain after dental or minor surgical procedures
- Chronic musculoskeletal pain as advised by a doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- It blocks an enzyme called COX-2 that produces chemicals (prostaglandins) responsible for pain, swelling and inflammation
- By reducing these chemicals, it helps ease joint pain, swelling and stiffness
- It has less effect on the stomach-protecting COX-1 enzyme compared to older NSAIDs, though stomach risk is not zero
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not a cure for arthritis; it only controls symptoms
- It is not meant for routine headaches or minor everyday pain
- It should not be used for long-term self-medication without doctor supervision
- It is not suitable for treating infections or fever caused by infections
How to Use Etoricoxib 90mg
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
- Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water
- Can be taken with or without food
- Do not increase the dose or take it for longer than advised
- Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest time needed
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

- Severe swelling of face, lips or throat, difficulty breathing (allergic reaction)
- Sudden decrease in urine output or severe swelling of legs
