Fluconazole 100mg is used to treat infections caused by fungus (yeast) affecting different parts of the body.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Vaginal yeast infections (candidiasis)
• Oral and throat thrush (candidiasis in the mouth or food pipe)
• Fungal infections of the skin and nails
• Fungal infections in the urinary tract
• Prevention of fungal infections in people with weak immunity, such as those on chemotherapy or with HIV
• Fungal meningitis (in specific serious cases as advised by a specialist)

HOW IT WORKS

• It stops fungus cells from making a substance needed for their outer covering
• This weakens the fungus and prevents it from growing and spreading
• Over time, the body's own defences help clear the remaining infection

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It does not treat bacterial infections such as throat infection due to bacteria
• It does not work against viral infections like cold, flu, or COVID-19
• It is not a painkiller and does not treat pain or fever directly
• It should not be used for infections without a doctor's confirmation of fungal cause

How to Use Fluconazole 100mg

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily or as a single dose depending on the infection
• Can be taken with or without food
• Swallow the tablet with a glass of water
• Complete the full course even if you feel better, unless your doctor tells you to stop
• Do not increase or decrease the dose on your own

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one

• Unusual tiredness or weakness with signs of low blood cell counts, such as fever or repeated infections
