WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Psoriasis (including plaque psoriasis)
- Severe eczema and dermatitis that has not responded to milder steroids
- Other inflammatory skin conditions as advised by your doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- It belongs to the corticosteroid group of medicines
- It reduces inflammation by blocking chemical messengers that cause redness, swelling and itching
- It also narrows blood vessels in the skin (vasoconstriction), reducing visible redness
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not for acne, rosacea or fungal skin infections
- Not for viral skin infections such as chickenpox, herpes or shingles
- Not for routine daily moisturising or minor skin dryness
- Not for use on the face, groin or underarms unless specifically advised, due to high potency
How to Use Halobetasol 0.05% W/W
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Apply a thin layer to the affected skin only, as prescribed by your doctor
- Wash and dry the area gently before application
- Rub in gently and wash your hands afterward, unless hands are being treated
- Do not use more often or for longer than your doctor has advised
- Avoid covering the treated area with airtight dressings unless told to do so
- Avoid contact with eyes, mouth and broken skin
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Apply as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for the next application, skip the missed one
- Do not apply extra to make up for a missed dose
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct heat and sunlight
- Keep the tube tightly closed
- Keep out of reach of children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

- Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips or throat
- Signs of skin infection such as pus, increased redness or pain
- Signs of excess steroid absorption such as unusual weight gain, weakness or high blood sugar with prolonged use
- Severe skin thinning, ulceration or easy bruising
