Halometasone 0.05% w/w is mainly used to treat inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Relief of redness, itching and swelling in eczema and dermatitis
• Management of psoriasis patches
• Treatment of allergic skin reactions and contact dermatitis
• Reducing inflammation in other steroid-responsive skin conditions as advised by a doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• It is a potent corticosteroid that reduces inflammation by suppressing local immune activity
• It decreases the release of chemicals in the skin that cause redness, swelling and itching
• It helps to narrow blood vessels in the skin, reducing visible redness

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for treating bacterial, viral or fungal skin infections on its own
• Not meant for acne, rosacea or use around the eyes unless specifically advised
• Not a treatment for internal illnesses
• Not for long-term daily use without medical supervision

How to Use Halometasone 0.05% W/W

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Apply a thin layer to the affected skin area as directed by your doctor
• Use only the amount and frequency prescribed, usually once or twice a day
• Wash and dry hands before and after application, unless the hands are being treated
• Do not cover the treated area with an airtight bandage unless your doctor instructs you to
• Do not use on the face, groin or underarms unless specifically advised
• Do not use for longer than the prescribed duration

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Apply it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next application, skip the missed one and continue your regular schedule
• Do not apply extra to make up for a missed dose

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct heat and sunlight
• Keep the tube tightly closed
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Burning or stinging sensation at the site of application
• Itching
• Dryness of skin
• Mild redness

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Thinning of the skin with prolonged use
• Stretch marks (striae)
• Changes in skin colour
• Increased visibility of small blood vessels

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Signs of skin infection such as pus, increased pain or swelling
• Severe allergic reaction with rash, swelling of face/lips/tongue or difficulty breathing
• Signs of adrenal suppression such as unusual tiredness, weight changes when used over large areas for long periods
• Worsening of the original skin condition

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to halometasone or other corticosteroids
• Have a skin infection (bacterial, fungal or viral) at the site that is untreated
• Have acne, rosacea or perioral dermatitis on the area to be treated
• Are advised against it by your doctor for any other reason

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Plan to use it on large areas of the body or for a long duration
• Are using it on children, as their skin is more sensitive
• Have thin or damaged skin, or any chronic skin disorder
• Are using other steroid creams or medicines

• Other topical or oral corticosteroids may increase the risk of side effects
• Other skin treatments applied to the same area may reduce effectiveness or increase irritation
