Ibrutinib is used to treat certain types of blood and lymph node cancers.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL)
• Mantle cell lymphoma
• Waldenström's macroglobulinemia
• Chronic graft-versus-host disease that has not responded to other treatments

HOW IT WORKS

• It blocks an enzyme called Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK)
• This enzyme helps abnormal white blood cells grow and multiply
• By blocking BTK, ibrutinib slows down or stops cancer cell growth and helps reduce their number in the blood

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not used for solid tumours like breast, lung, or colon cancer
• It is not a painkiller or a general immune booster
• It should not be used for infections or for other unrelated blood disorders
• It is not a cure by itself and must be used as part of a complete treatment plan decided by your oncologist

How to Use Ibrutinib 140mg

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
• Swallow the capsule or tablet whole with a glass of water; do not open, crush, or chew it
• Take it at the same time every day to maintain steady levels in the body
• Can be taken with or without food unless your doctor advises otherwise
• Do not stop taking it suddenly without consulting your doctor, even if you feel better
• Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice while on this medicine, as it can affect how the drug works

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule

STORAGE
