WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Control of high blood sugar in Type 1 diabetes
• Control of high blood sugar in Type 2 diabetes when tablets alone are not enough
• Long-term blood sugar management as advised by your doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• The soluble (fast-acting) portion starts working quickly to control blood sugar rise after meals
• The isophane (NPH, longer-acting) portion works slowly over several hours to provide steady background insulin cover
• Together they help mimic the body's natural insulin release pattern

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not used to treat diabetic ketoacidosis in an emergency setting where fast-acting insulin alone is preferred
• It is not a treatment for high blood pressure or cholesterol
• It should not be used to treat low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)

How to Use Insulin Isophane/Nph 70% + Human Insulin/Soluble Insulin 30%

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Inject under the skin (subcutaneously) as prescribed by your doctor, usually before a meal
• Rotate injection sites (thigh, abdomen, upper arm) to avoid lumps
• Mix the vial or pen gently by rolling before use, do not shake vigorously
• Never inject into a vein or muscle unless specifically instructed
• Eat a meal shortly after injecting, as advised, to avoid low blood sugar

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember, but if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
• Contact your doctor if you are unsure about timing or missed multiple doses

STORAGE

• Store unopened vials/pens in a refrigerator (2-8°C), do not freeze
• Once in use, keep at room temperature (below 25-30°C) and use within the time advised on the pack

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Changes in fat tissue at injection site (lumps or dents)
• Swelling of ankles or feet
• Blurred vision in early treatment

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe hypoglycemia with confusion, seizures or loss of consciousness
• Signs of allergic reaction – rash, swelling of face/lips/tongue, difficulty breathing
• Very low blood pressure or fast heartbeat
• Severe injection site reactions that do not improve
