• Prevention and treatment of angina (chest pain due to reduced blood supply to the heart)
• Management of chest pain during exercise or stress in people with known heart disease
• Sometimes used along with other medicines in heart failure treatment

HOW IT WORKS

• It relaxes and widens blood vessels, especially veins
• This reduces the workload on the heart

• This helps relieve or prevent chest pain episodes

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

How to Use Isosorbide Dinitrate (5mg)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually before meals
• Tablets may be swallowed whole or placed under the tongue depending on the type prescribed
• Do not crush or chew unless your doctor says so
• Sit down when taking it, as it can cause dizziness
• Do not stop suddenly without asking your doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one

• Severe dizziness or fainting
• Blurred vision
• Severe drop in blood pressure with cold sweats
• Chest pain that does not go away with rest or medicine
• Signs of allergic reaction such as rash, swelling of face or lips, difficulty breathing
