Lansoprazole 15mg is used to treat conditions caused by excess stomach acid production.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Acid reflux (GERD) and heartburn
• Stomach ulcers and duodenal ulcers
• Erosive esophagitis (inflammation of the food pipe due to acid)
• Prevention of ulcers caused by long-term use of certain pain-relief medicines (NSAIDs)
• As part of combination therapy to treat H. pylori infection along with antibiotics

HOW IT WORKS

• It blocks the proton pump in stomach cells that produces acid
• This reduces the overall acid level in the stomach
• Lower acid levels allow irritated or damaged tissue in the food pipe and stomach to heal
• It also relieves symptoms like burning sensation and discomfort caused by acid

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not a painkiller and does not treat general body pain
• It is not used for immediate relief of sudden heartburn (it works gradually, not instantly)

How to Use Lansoprazole 15mg

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor
• It is usually taken once daily, before a meal, preferably in the morning
• Swallow the tablet or capsule whole with water; do not crush or chew unless your doctor specifically says it is safe to do so
• Try to take it at the same time each day for best results
• Continue taking it for the full duration advised, even if you start feeling better

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember

• Unexplained muscle spasms, weakness, seizures, or irregular heartbeat (signs of low magnesium levels with long-term use)
• Severe skin reactions such as blistering or peeling skin
