Levetiracetam 250mg is mainly prescribed to control different types of seizures in people with epilepsy.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Partial (focal) seizures, either alone or with other anti-epileptic medicines
• Myoclonic seizures seen in certain types of epilepsy
• Generalised tonic-clonic seizures as add-on treatment

HOW IT WORKS

• It acts on a specific protein in brain cells (SV2A) that helps control the release of chemical messengers
• This helps reduce abnormal electrical activity in the brain that causes seizures
• It helps prevent seizures but does not cure epilepsy

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not a painkiller and should not be used for headaches or body pain
• It is not used for anxiety or sleep problems
• It should not be stopped suddenly for convenience as it may trigger seizures

How to Use Levetiracetam 250mg

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually twice a day
• Swallow the tablet with a glass of water; it can be taken with or without food
• If using the syrup, use the measuring cup or spoon provided for accurate dosing
• Take it at the same times every day to maintain a steady level in the body
• Do not stop taking it suddenly, even if you feel better, unless your doctor advises

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
