Levetiracetam 750mg is mainly used to treat epilepsy in adults and children.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treating partial-onset (focal) seizures, alone or with other anti-epileptic medicines
• Treating myoclonic seizures in certain types of epilepsy
• Treating generalised tonic-clonic seizures as add-on therapy

HOW IT WORKS

• It acts on a protein in brain cells called SV2A, which helps control the release of chemical messengers
• This reduces abnormal electrical activity in the brain that causes seizures
• It does not cure epilepsy but helps control and prevent seizures with regular use

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not a painkiller and does not treat headaches or migraines
• It is not used for anxiety or sleep problems
• It should not be stopped suddenly to treat occasional stress-related symptoms
• It is not a substitute for lifestyle measures like adequate sleep in epilepsy management

How to Use Levetiracetam 750mg

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually twice a day
• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water
• Can be taken with or without food, but try to take it the same way each time
• Do not stop taking it suddenly, even if you feel better, as this can trigger seizures
• Continue taking it regularly, even when you have no seizures

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
• If you miss doses often, set reminders or ask your pharmacist for tips

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
• Do not store in the bathroom or near the kitchen sink

• Signs of severe allergic reaction: swelling of face/lips/tongue, difficulty breathing, severe skin rash or blistering
• Signs of low blood cell counts: unusual bruising, bleeding, frequent infections, fever
• Severe muscle weakness or difficulty walking
