- Managing chronic stable angina (chest pain due to reduced blood flow to the heart)
- Reducing strain on the heart in certain heart conditions, as advised by a doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- Metoprolol blocks beta receptors in the heart, slowing the heart rate and reducing the force of contraction
- Amlodipine relaxes and widens blood vessels by blocking calcium entry into vessel walls

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not for sudden, severe chest pain requiring emergency treatment
- Not a painkiller for general body pain or headache
- Not used for anxiety or occasional palpitations without doctor evaluation
- Not a substitute for lifestyle changes like diet and exercise in blood pressure control

HOW TO TAKE IT

- Do not crush or chew unless your doctor says it is safe to do so
- Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly, especially metoprolol, as it can cause a rebound increase in heart rate or blood pressure
- Continue taking it even if you feel well, as blood pressure control is often symptomless
