WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Controlling high blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes
• Reducing the rise in blood sugar that happens after eating
• Used alone or in combination with other anti-diabetic medicines as advised by your doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• It blocks enzymes in the intestine that break down complex carbohydrates into simple sugars
• This slows down and reduces the absorption of glucose from food
• As a result, after-meal blood sugar spikes are reduced

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for type 1 diabetes
• Not used to treat diabetic ketoacidosis, an emergency condition
• Not a substitute for insulin when insulin is required
• Not used for weight loss or general digestive complaints

How to Use Miglitol 25 mg

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Signs of liver problems such as yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine
