Nimorazole 500 mg is used to treat infections caused by certain protozoa and anaerobic bacteria, including infections of the genital tract and gut.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treatment of trichomoniasis (a sexually transmitted protozoal infection)
• Treatment of giardiasis (a parasitic infection of the intestine)
• Treatment of certain anaerobic bacterial infections
• Sometimes used to prevent infection after certain surgical procedures, as advised by the doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• It enters the cells of sensitive protozoa and bacteria
• Inside these organisms, it damages their genetic material (DNA)
• This stops the organism from growing and multiplying, eventually killing it

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It does not treat viral infections such as cold, flu, or COVID-19
• It does not work against fungal infections
• It is not a general painkiller or fever medicine
• It should not be used for infections it is not prescribed for, as this can cause resistance

How to Use Nimorazole 500 mg

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor, in the dose and duration advised
• It can usually be taken with or after food to reduce stomach upset
• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew unless your doctor says so
• Complete the full course even if you feel better, unless your doctor tells you to stop
• Avoid alcohol during treatment and for a few days after finishing the course, as it can cause reactions like flushing, nausea, and palpitations

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue your regular schedule
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
• If you miss several doses, inform your doctor

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach and sight of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
• Do not store in the bathroom or near the kitchen sink
