WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Long-term control of high blood pressure
• Reducing the risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney problems linked to uncontrolled blood pressure
• Used when a single blood pressure medicine is not enough

HOW IT WORKS

• Olmesartan blocks a hormone (angiotensin II) that tightens blood vessels, helping them relax
• Amlodipine relaxes and widens blood vessels by blocking calcium entry into vessel walls
• Chlorthalidone is a diuretic that helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water, lowering blood volume
• Together they lower blood pressure more effectively than any one component alone

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not a treatment for sudden, severe high blood pressure emergencies
• Not used for chest pain (angina) as a first choice

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily

• Try to take it at the same time every day to build a routine

• Continue taking it even if you feel well; blood pressure medicines work silently

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Dizziness
• Headache

• Yellowing of skin or eyes
• Severe, watery diarrhoea along with weight loss (rare intestinal problem linked to Olmesartan)
