Olmesartan 40mg + Amlodipine 5mg + Hctz 12.5mg — Uses and Benefits
This medicine is used to treat high blood pressure in adults who need more than one drug to keep it under control.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Long-term control of high blood pressure (hypertension)
- Used when blood pressure is not controlled by a single blood pressure medicine
- Helps lower the risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney problems linked to high blood pressure
HOW IT WORKS
- Olmesartan blocks a hormone (angiotensin II) that narrows blood vessels, helping vessels relax
- Amlodipine relaxes the muscles of blood vessel walls, improving blood flow
- Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water, reducing fluid in the blood vessels
- Together, these actions lower blood pressure more effectively than any one medicine alone
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not a treatment for sudden or emergency high blood pressure spikes
- Not a painkiller or fever medicine
- Not used for chest pain (angina) as a stand-alone treatment
- Not meant for children unless specifically advised by a specialist
