This medicine is used mainly to control high blood pressure in adults who need more than one drug to keep it in a healthy range.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension)
• Used when a single blood pressure medicine is not enough to control levels
• Helps reduce long-term risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney problems linked to high blood pressure

HOW IT WORKS

• Olmesartan blocks a hormone (angiotensin II) that tightens blood vessels, allowing them to relax and widen
• Indapamide is a diuretic that helps the kidneys remove excess salt and water, reducing fluid volume in blood vessels
• Together they lower blood pressure through two different, complementary actions

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not for immediate relief of a sudden severe rise in blood pressure (hypertensive emergency)
• Not a treatment for chest pain (angina) or heart attack
• Not used to treat infections or pain
• Not recommended for use in pregnancy

How to Use Olmesartan 40mg + Indapamide 1.5mg

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
• Swallow the tablet with a glass of water, with or without food
• Take it at the same time every day to help you remember
• Do not stop taking it suddenly even if you feel well, as blood pressure can rise again
• Continue regular blood pressure checks and any blood tests advised by your doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct heat and sunlight
• Keep in a dry place, away from moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Dizziness or lightheadedness
• Headache
• Tiredness or weakness
• Increased urination
• Nausea

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Muscle cramps
• Low blood pressure symptoms such as feeling faint on standing
• Mild stomach upset
• Skin rash or itching
• Changes in blood sodium or potassium levels seen on blood tests

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe dizziness, fainting or irregular heartbeat
• Swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat, or difficulty breathing (allergic reaction)
• Severe watery diarrhoea leading to dehydration
• Very little or no urination
• Yellowing of skin or eyes, or signs of liver problems
• Severe muscle weakness or cramps (may indicate low potassium or sodium)

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are pregnant or planning pregnancy
• Are breastfeeding
• Have a known allergy to olmesartan, indapamide, or sulfonamide-related drugs
• Have severe kidney or liver disease
• Have very low potassium or sodium levels

• Certain diabetes medicines
• Digoxin or other heart medicines
