This composition is used mainly to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Control of high blood pressure
• Used when a single blood pressure medicine is not enough to control levels
• Long-term management of hypertension to reduce risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney problems

HOW IT WORKS

• Olmesartan blocks the action of a chemical called angiotensin II that narrows blood vessels, allowing vessels to relax and widen
• Chlorthalidone helps the kidneys remove excess salt and water from the body, reducing blood volume
• Together they lower blood pressure more effectively than either medicine alone

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for immediate relief of a hypertensive emergency
• Not a treatment for chest pain or heart attack
• Not used for treating infections or pain
• Not recommended for use during pregnancy

How to Use Olmesartan Medoxomil (20mg) + Chlorthalidone (6.25mg)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily
• It can be taken with or without food, at the same time each day
• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water
• Do not crush or chew unless advised by your doctor
• Continue taking it regularly even if your blood pressure feels normal
• Do not stop suddenly without consulting your doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep the tablet in its original strip or container until ready to use
• Keep out of reach and sight of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Dizziness
• Headache
• Fatigue or tiredness

• Changes in blood sugar or uric acid levels

• Signs of severe allergic reaction such as swelling of face, lips, throat, or difficulty breathing
• Severe dizziness or fainting
• Very low urine output or signs of kidney problems
• Severe diarrhoea with weight loss (rare intestinal problem linked to olmesartan)
• Muscle weakness, irregular heartbeat, or confusion (may indicate electrolyte imbalance)
• Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice)

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are pregnant or planning pregnancy
• Are breastfeeding
• Have a known allergy to olmesartan, chlorthalidone, or other sulfonamide-derived medicines

• Have uncontrolled diabetes with severe kidney impairment and are also taking aliskiren

• Medicines for diabetes, as this combination may affect blood sugar control
• Digoxin and certain heart rhythm medicines
