This combination is mainly used to treat amoebic infections of the intestine, including symptoms like diarrhoea, abdominal pain, and mucus or blood in stools caused by Entamoeba histolytica.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treatment of intestinal amoebiasis (amoebic dysentery)
• Treatment of amoebic cyst carriers to prevent spread of infection
• Sometimes used for mixed infections involving anaerobic bacteria along with amoeba

HOW IT WORKS

• Ornidazole is an antiprotozoal and antibacterial agent that damages the DNA of the parasite, killing the active amoeba
• Diloxanide furoate acts on the cyst stage of the amoeba in the intestine, preventing new infection and relapse
• Together they clear both the active and dormant forms of the parasite

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for viral diarrhoea or common food poisoning
• Not a treatment for worm infestations

How to Use Ornidazole 250mg + Diloxanide Furoate 375mg

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with or after food to reduce stomach upset
• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Complete the full course even if you feel better, to fully clear the infection
• Avoid alcohol during treatment and for at least 48 hours after finishing, as it can cause severe reactions

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
• Do not take double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
