WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Treatment of flu (influenza A and B) in adults and children when started early after symptoms begin
- Prevention of flu in people who have been exposed to someone with influenza
- Prevention of flu during an outbreak, as advised by a doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- It blocks an enzyme called neuraminidase on the surface of the flu virus
- This stops the virus from spreading from infected cells to healthy cells in the body
- This helps reduce the severity and duration of flu symptoms and lowers the risk of complications
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It does not treat the common cold
- It is not effective against bacterial infections
- It does not work against COVID-19 or other non-influenza viral infections
- It is not a substitute for the flu vaccine
How to Use Oseltamivir 75mg
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually as a capsule swallowed with water
- Can be taken with or without food; taking it with food may reduce nausea
- Start treatment as soon as possible after flu symptoms appear, ideally within 48 hours
- Complete the full course even if you start feeling better
- Do not stop early unless advised by your doctor
