Oseltamivir 75mg is used mainly for influenza (flu) infections.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treatment of flu (influenza A and B) in adults and children when started early after symptoms begin
• Prevention of flu in people who have been exposed to someone with influenza
• Prevention of flu during an outbreak, as advised by a doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• It blocks an enzyme called neuraminidase on the surface of the flu virus
• This stops the virus from spreading from infected cells to healthy cells in the body
• This helps reduce the severity and duration of flu symptoms and lowers the risk of complications

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It does not treat the common cold
• It is not effective against bacterial infections
• It does not work against COVID-19 or other non-influenza viral infections
• It is not a substitute for the flu vaccine

How to Use Oseltamivir 75mg

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually as a capsule swallowed with water
• Can be taken with or without food; taking it with food may reduce nausea
• Start treatment as soon as possible after flu symptoms appear, ideally within 48 hours
• Complete the full course even if you start feeling better
• Do not stop early unless advised by your doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular schedule
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
• Dispose of unused medicine safely, do not flush down the drain

• Signs of an allergic reaction such as rash, swelling of face/lips/tongue, or difficulty breathing
• Severe skin reactions such as blistering or peeling skin
• Unusual behaviour, confusion, hallucinations, or self-harming thoughts (reported rarely, mostly in children and teenagers)
• Seizures (fits)
• Yellowing of skin or eyes (signs of liver problems)
