HOW IT WORKS

• It blocks a chemical messenger called glutamate in the brain
• Glutamate normally causes brain cells to become overactive during a seizure
• By blocking this, perampanel reduces abnormal electrical activity and helps prevent seizures

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It does not treat headache, migraine, or anxiety
• It is not a painkiller or sleeping pill, even though it is taken at bedtime
• It is not used to stop a seizure that is already happening
• It should not be used without a proper epilepsy diagnosis and doctor's prescription

How to Use Perampanel 8mg

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day at bedtime
• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Can be taken with or without food, but be consistent with your routine
• Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor, as this may increase the risk of seizures
• Dose changes should only be made by your doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
