WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Sudden onset (acute) diarrhea in adults and children
- Used along with oral rehydration solution (ORS) to prevent dehydration
- Sometimes used for diarrhea caused by infections, as advised by a doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- It reduces excess secretion of water and salts into the intestine
- It does not stop normal movement of the gut, so it helps control diarrhea without causing constipation
- It helps reduce the amount and duration of loose motions
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not used for chronic (long-term) diarrhea without medical evaluation
- It is not a treatment for the underlying cause of diarrhea, such as infection
- It is not used to treat vomiting alone
- It is not a substitute for ORS or fluid replacement
- It should not be used for diarrhea caused by antibiotics without consulting a doctor
How to Use Racecadotril 100mg
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor
- Usually taken by mouth, with or without food
- Often taken along with oral rehydration solution (ORS) to replace lost fluids
- Swallow the capsule or sachet contents as directed; do not chew unless instructed
- Continue drinking plenty of fluids while taking this medicine
- Do not continue for longer than advised, even if diarrhea improves
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
- If diarrhea continues despite doses, inform your doctor promptly
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep out of reach of children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
- Dispose of unused medicine safely, do not flush down the drain
