This medicine combination is used to treat active tuberculosis (TB) infection affecting the lungs or other parts of the body.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treatment of pulmonary (lung) tuberculosis
• Treatment of certain forms of extra-pulmonary tuberculosis
• Used during the intensive phase of TB treatment along with other anti-TB medicines as advised by your doctor

HOW IT WORKS

• Rifampicin stops TB bacteria from making proteins needed to survive
• Isoniazid blocks formation of the bacterial cell wall
• Pyrazinamide kills bacteria that hide inside cells, especially in acidic environments
• Together, these three medicines attack the TB bacteria in different ways, reducing chances of drug resistance

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for viral infections such as cold, flu or COVID-19
• Not used for ordinary bacterial infections unrelated to TB
• Not a preventive medicine to be taken without a doctor's diagnosis of TB
• Not to be stopped or used alone without completing the full prescribed course

How to Use Rifampicin 225mg + Isoniazid 150mg + Pyrazinamide 750mg

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily
• Take on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before food, unless your doctor advises otherwise
• Swallow the tablet with a full glass of water
• Do not skip doses or stop the course early, even if you feel better, as this can lead to drug-resistant TB
• Complete the full duration of treatment as advised by your doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your regular schedule
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
• Try to take doses at the same time each day to help remember

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep in the original pack until it is time to take the medicine
• Keep out of reach of children and pets
• Do not use beyond the expiry date printed on the pack

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Loss of appetite
• Nausea or mild stomach upset
• Orange-red discoloration of urine, saliva, tears or sweat (harmless)

• Skin rash or itching
• Headache
• Dizziness
• Numbness or tingling in hands or feet

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine (signs of liver problems)
• Severe vomiting or abdominal pain
• Unexplained fever lasting several days
• Severe skin reaction with blistering or peeling
• Vision changes
• Signs of severe allergic reaction such as swelling of face/lips, difficulty breathing

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to Rifampicin, Isoniazid, Pyrazinamide or any other ingredient in this medicine
• Have severe active liver disease
• Have had jaundice or liver damage from anti-TB drugs before
• Have acute gout
