Rosuvastatin 10mg + Clopidogrel 75mg — Uses and Benefits
This combination is prescribed for people who have had a heart attack, stroke, or have coronary artery disease, and who also have high cholesterol needing treatment.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Reducing the risk of heart attack and stroke in people with existing cardiovascular disease
- Preventing blood clots from forming in narrowed or stented arteries
- Lowering high cholesterol (LDL) and reducing cardiovascular risk
- Long-term secondary prevention after a cardiac event or angioplasty/stent placement
HOW IT WORKS
- Rosuvastatin blocks an enzyme in the liver that makes cholesterol, lowering LDL (bad cholesterol) and raising HDL slightly
- Clopidogrel stops platelets in the blood from sticking together, reducing the chance of clot formation in arteries
- Together they help keep blood vessels clearer and reduce the risk of another heart attack or stroke
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not a treatment for an ongoing heart attack or stroke emergency
- Not used for general pain relief or fever
- Not a substitute for lifestyle changes like diet, exercise, and smoking cessation
- Not recommended for people without a diagnosed cardiovascular condition or risk
