This combination medicine is used to treat high cholesterol (hyperlipidaemia) and to lower the risk of heart disease and stroke caused by fatty deposits in blood vessels.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Lowering high LDL (bad) cholesterol
• Lowering total cholesterol and triglycerides
• Raising HDL (good) cholesterol in some cases
• Reducing risk of heart attack and stroke in people with high cholesterol or heart disease risk factors
• Used along with diet control when diet alone is not enough

HOW IT WORKS

• Simvastatin blocks an enzyme in the liver that makes cholesterol
• Ezetimibe reduces absorption of cholesterol from food in the intestine
• Together they lower blood cholesterol more effectively than either alone

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not a painkiller or fever medicine
• Not used for immediate chest pain relief during a heart attack
• Not a treatment for infections
• Not meant for weight loss

How to Use Simvastatin + Ezitamibe

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily in the evening
• Swallow the tablet whole with water
• Can be taken with or without food, but be consistent
• Avoid grapefruit juice as it can increase side effects
• Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well, since cholesterol control needs long-term use
• Do not stop suddenly without consulting your doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one

• Store at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct sunlight

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness, especially with fever or dark urine
• Yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine (signs of liver problems)
• Severe stomach pain (possible pancreas problem)
• Signs of allergic reaction such as swelling of face, lips, throat, or difficulty breathing
• Unusual bleeding or bruising

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
