WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Controlling high blood sugar (glucose) levels in adults with type 2 diabetes
• Used alone or in combination with other diabetes medicines like metformin, sulfonylureas or insulin
• Used along with proper diet and regular exercise

HOW IT WORKS

• Belongs to a class of medicines called DPP-4 inhibitors
• Increases the levels of natural hormones (incretins) in the body that help control blood sugar
• Helps the pancreas release insulin when blood sugar is high
• Reduces the amount of sugar produced by the liver

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

How to Use Sitagliptin 25mg

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor
• Usually taken once a day, with or without food
• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew unless your doctor says so
• Try to take it at the same time every day to maintain steady blood sugar control
• Continue taking it even if you feel well, unless your doctor advises stopping
• Keep following your prescribed diet and exercise plan along with this medicine

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep in the original packaging until ready to use
• Keep out of reach of children and pets

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Headache
• Stuffy or runny nose and sore throat
• Upper respiratory tract infection
• Nausea

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Diarrhoea
• Stomach pain or discomfort
• Dizziness
• Joint pain
• Low blood sugar (especially when combined with other diabetes medicines)

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe stomach pain that spreads to the back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis)
• Signs of allergic reaction such as swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat, difficulty breathing, or severe skin rash
• Blistering or peeling skin
• Severe joint pain
• Signs of kidney problems such as reduced urination or swelling in legs
• Symptoms of severe low blood sugar such as excessive sweating, shakiness, confusion or fainting

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
