This combination medicine is mainly used to treat symptoms of an enlarged prostate gland (benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH) in men.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Treating moderate to severe symptoms of BPH such as difficulty urinating, weak urine stream, and frequent urination
- Reducing the risk of acute urinary retention (sudden inability to pass urine)
- Reducing the need for prostate-related surgery over time
HOW IT WORKS
- Tamsulosin is an alpha-blocker that relaxes the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, making it easier to urinate
- Dutasteride is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor that reduces the hormone responsible for prostate enlargement, shrinking the prostate gradually
- Together, they give faster symptom relief along with long-term reduction in prostate size
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used to treat prostate cancer
- Not used for urinary tract infections
- Not meant for use in women or children
- Not a treatment for erectile dysfunction, although it may affect sexual function
How to Use Tamsulosin Hcl 0.4mg + Dutasteride 0.5mg
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily
- Swallow the capsule whole with water; do not crush, chew, or open it
- Take it at the same time each day, generally after the same meal, to maintain a routine
- Do not stop the medicine suddenly even if symptoms improve, unless your doctor advises
- It may take several weeks to months to feel the full benefit

- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
