This medicine is used mainly to control high blood pressure.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension)
- Used when a single blood pressure medicine is not enough to control it
- Helps reduce risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney problems linked to high blood pressure over time
HOW IT WORKS
- Telmisartan blocks a hormone called angiotensin II, which causes blood vessels to relax and widen
- Chlorthalidone is a diuretic that makes the kidneys pass out extra salt and water through urine
- Together they lower blood pressure more effectively than either medicine alone
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not a treatment for sudden chest pain or heart attack
- Not meant for immediate relief of very high blood pressure emergencies
- Not a painkiller or fever medicine
- Not to be used during pregnancy for blood pressure control
How to Use Telmisartan 40mg + Chlorthalidone 12.5mg
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
- Can be taken with or without food, at the same time each day
- Swallow the tablet with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
- Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well, as blood pressure control needs continuous treatment
- Do not stop suddenly without talking to your doctor
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule
- Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture

- Irregular heartbeat, severe weakness, or muscle cramps (possible sign of low potassium or sodium)
- Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice)
