This medicine combination is used in the treatment of HIV-1 (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) infection.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and adolescents
• Used as part of a complete antiretroviral therapy (ART) regimen
• Helps reduce the amount of virus in the blood (viral load)

HOW IT WORKS

• Tenofovir and Lamivudine block an HIV enzyme called reverse transcriptase, which the virus needs to multiply
• Efavirenz also blocks reverse transcriptase, but at a different site, giving added antiviral strength
• Together they lower viral load, protect the immune system, and slow disease progression

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not a cure for HIV or AIDS
• It does not prevent transmission of HIV to others
• It is not used to treat other viral infections like hepatitis B alone (though it may help control it), influenza, or common cold

How to Use Tenofovir 245mg + Lamivudine 300mg + Efavirenz 600mg

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily
• Take on an empty stomach, preferably at bedtime, to reduce dizziness and sleep-related side effects
• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Do not stop or skip doses even if you feel well, as this can lead to drug resistance
• Continue taking other prescribed HIV medicines along with this one if instructed

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your normal schedule
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture

• Severe mood changes, suicidal thoughts, hallucinations or confusion
• Signs of kidney problems such as reduced urination or swelling
• Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips or throat
