Timolol Maleate eye drops are mainly used to treat conditions where the pressure inside the eye is higher than normal.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Open-angle glaucoma
• Ocular hypertension (raised eye pressure without damage yet)
• Certain other types of glaucoma as advised by an eye specialist

HOW IT WORKS

• It is a beta-blocker that reduces the production of fluid (aqueous humour) inside the eye
• Lowering this fluid reduces the pressure inside the eye
• Reduced eye pressure helps protect the optic nerve from further damage

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not used to treat eye infections
• It is not used to relieve eye redness or allergy symptoms
• It is not a painkiller and does not treat eye injuries
• It does not cure glaucoma; it only controls eye pressure

How to Use TIMOLOL MALEATE 0.5%w/v

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Use only as prescribed by your doctor
• Wash hands before use
• Tilt head back, pull down the lower eyelid gently and place the drop inside
• Avoid touching the dropper tip to the eye or any surface
• Press gently on the inner corner of the eye for about a minute after applying, to reduce absorption into the body
• If using more than one type of eye drop, wait at least 5 minutes between drops

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Apply the missed drop as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not apply extra drops to make up for a missed dose

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat
• Keep the bottle tightly closed
• Do not use after the bottle has been opened for the period mentioned on the label
• Keep out of reach of children

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Mild burning or stinging in the eye after applying
• Watery eyes
• Dryness or irritation of the eye
• Blurred vision for a short time after use

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Headache
• Slow heart rate
• Tiredness or weakness
• Dizziness

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Difficulty breathing or wheezing
• Chest pain or very slow/irregular heartbeat
• Severe dizziness or fainting
• Swelling of face, lips or throat (allergic reaction)
• Sudden worsening of vision

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Have asthma or a history of severe breathing problems
• Have a very slow heart rate or certain heart conduction problems
