• Maintenance treatment of COPD, including chronic bronchitis and emphysema
• Reducing frequency of COPD flare-ups (exacerbations)
• Add-on maintenance treatment for asthma in patients not controlled by inhaled steroids and other bronchodilators

HOW IT WORKS

• It belongs to a class called anticholinergics (antimuscarinics)
• It blocks certain receptors in the airway muscles, causing them to relax
• This keeps the airways open for around 24 hours, easing breathing

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not for sudden breathlessness or an asthma/COPD attack that needs quick relief
• Not a cure for COPD or asthma, only controls symptoms
• Not recommended for children

How to Use Tiotropium 9mcg

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Use only with the specific inhalation device prescribed along with it
• Take it once daily, at the same time every day, as advised by your doctor
• Do not swallow the capsule/contents; it is only for inhalation
• Read the instructions provided with the device carefully or ask your pharmacist to demonstrate
• Rinse your mouth with water after use to reduce dry mouth
• Do not use more than the prescribed dose
