WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Control of various types of seizures, including generalised and partial seizures
• Management of manic episodes in bipolar disorder

HOW IT WORKS

• It increases the levels of a calming brain chemical called GABA
• It stabilises abnormal electrical activity in nerve cells

How to Use Valproic Acid 250mg

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with food to reduce stomach upset
• Swallow tablets whole with water; do not crush or chew unless your doctor says it is fine
• Take it at the same time(s) each day to maintain steady levels in the body
• Do not stop taking it suddenly, even if you feel well, as this can trigger seizures

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
