Voglibose 0.2mg — Uses and Benefits
Voglibose 0.2mg is used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus, especially to control the rise in blood sugar that happens after eating food.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Controlling post-meal (after food) blood sugar spikes in type 2 diabetes
- Used along with diet and exercise as advised by your doctor
- Sometimes used together with other diabetes medicines
HOW IT WORKS
- It blocks an enzyme in the intestine that breaks down complex carbohydrates into sugar
- This slows down sugar absorption into the blood after meals
- As a result, after-meal blood sugar levels stay more controlled
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for type 1 diabetes
- Not a treatment for diabetic emergencies like ketoacidosis
- Not meant for weight loss or general fatigue
- Not a substitute for insulin when insulin is specifically required
How to Use Voglibose 0.2mg
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually just before each main meal
- Swallow with a small amount of water right before eating, not after
- Do not skip meals after taking this medicine as it can increase risk of low blood sugar
- Do not change the dose on your own
- Continue diet and exercise plan advised by your doctor
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- If you miss a dose before a meal, skip it and take the next dose before your next meal
- Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one
- If you are unsure, ask your doctor or pharmacist
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep in the original pack until it is time to take it
