Vonoprazan 10mg is used to treat conditions caused by excess stomach acid.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and heartburn
• Erosive esophagitis (inflammation/damage of the food pipe due to acid)
• Stomach (gastric) and intestinal (duodenal) ulcers
• As part of combination therapy with antibiotics to treat H. pylori infection

HOW IT WORKS

• Blocks the potassium-competitive acid pump in stomach cells
• Reduces acid production more quickly and for a longer duration than some older acid-reducing medicines
• Helps heal acid-damaged lining of the food pipe and stomach
• Relieves symptoms like burning sensation, chest discomfort, and regurgitation

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for general stomach pain unrelated to acid
• Not a painkiller and does not treat infections on its own (needs antibiotics for H. pylori)
• Not meant for occasional, mild indigestion that resolves quickly
• Not a substitute for lifestyle changes like diet control in reflux disease

How to Use Vonoprazan 10mg

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
• Can be taken with or without food, unless your doctor advises otherwise
• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless instructed
• Take it at the same time each day to maintain a steady effect
• Continue for the full duration advised by your doctor, even if you feel better, especially when used for ulcer healing or H. pylori treatment
• Do not stop suddenly without consulting your doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep in the original packaging until ready to use
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips, or throat, or difficulty breathing
• Signs of low magnesium such as muscle spasms, irregular heartbeat, or seizures (with long-term use)
• Severe or watery diarrhoea that does not stop (may indicate a bowel infection)
• Yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine (signs of liver problems)
• Unusual bone pain or fractures with prolonged use

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
