Vonoprazan 20mg — Uses and Benefits
Vonoprazan 20mg is prescribed for conditions where stomach acid needs to be reduced, such as acid reflux and ulcers.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
- Erosive oesophagitis (inflammation of the food pipe due to acid)
- Peptic ulcers (stomach and duodenal ulcers)

HOW IT WORKS
- It blocks the potassium-competitive channel in stomach acid-producing cells

- Lower acid levels allow irritated or damaged tissue in the food pipe and stomach to heal
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not a painkiller and does not treat general body pain
- It is not used for simple indigestion that is not related to acid
- It is not a treatment for infections on its own (it is combined with antibiotics only for H. pylori)
- It is not meant for long-term use without medical supervision
