Zonisamide is mainly used to treat epilepsy by helping control different types of seizures.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treating partial (focal) seizures in adults
• Used along with other anti-epileptic medicines when seizures are not fully controlled
• Sometimes used for other seizure types as decided by a neurologist

HOW IT WORKS

• It stabilises the electrical activity of nerve cells in the brain
• It blocks certain channels in nerve cells that cause abnormal, excessive electrical signals
• This reduces the frequency and severity of seizures

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for headaches or migraines unless specifically prescribed by a doctor for that purpose
• Not a painkiller and does not treat general body pain

How to Use Zonisamide 25mg.

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once or twice a day
• Can be taken with or without food, but taking it with food may reduce stomach upset
• Swallow the tablet/capsule whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Take it at the same time(s) each day to maintain steady levels in the body

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your normal schedule
